In a political era often defined by transactional leadership, Honourable Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo stands as a rare exception, a man whose arms are perpetually open to every soul, irrespective of status, tribe, or circumstance. Raised by a widow after losing his father at ten, he carries that lived experience into every decision, ensuring that his compassion is never abstract but deeply personal. Whether in the corridors of the Ministry of Interior or the roads of Ondo State’s 18 Local Government Areas, his embrace reaches the vulnerable, the elderly, the physically challenged, and the forgotten with equal warmth. He does not see liabilities; he sees dignity, worth, and a reason to serve.

His humanitarian footprint across Ondo State is not measured in grand gestures but in quiet, consistent acts that restore hope. Widows receive support that acknowledges their silent struggles; elders are honoured as custodians of wisdom, not burdens to be cast aside; orphans are given educational lifelines; and transport operators find relief in his interventions. Free medical outreaches span every local government, bringing healthcare to the remotest communities. He has restored electricity to darkened villages and mediated conflicts with a gentle hand. None of this carries political colour; his arms are simply open, and his heart is indiscriminate.

Beyond the state, Tunji-Ojo’s transformative work at the Ministry of Interior has redefined public service. He cleared monumental passport backlogs, introduced end to end automation that eliminated touting, launched a contactless renewal system for diasporans, and commissioned a cutting edge technology complex that integrates identity management. He secured approvals for thousands of new personnel and established a pension board for paramilitary staff. In under a year, he turned a sluggish bureaucracy into a model of efficiency, making government accessible to ordinary citizens through human centered reforms that prioritise dignity and speed.

Yet his influence extends far beyond his ministerial portfolio. In Ondo State, his compassionate leadership has become the bedrock of President Bola Tinubu’s political capital, with his grassroots mobilisation and inclusive outreach securing the President’s scorecard high across the state. He has strengthened party structures, facilitated unity, and ensured that the Renewed Hope Agenda resonates not as a slogan but as a tangible reality. His ability to bridge divides and build connections has made opposition nearly invisible in his home state, not through coercion but through genuine connection and consistent presence.

This is the Tunji Ojo that does not discriminate, a leader whose open arms symbolise a Nigeria where no one is left behind. From the vulnerables to the elders, from people with disabilities to the able bodied, he serves all with equal passion. His compassion, his reforms, and his unwavering commitment to humanity have etched his name not just in political history but in the hearts of those he touches.
